Did you know that J World Annapolis is now the official training partner of the World Cruising Club?  Did you know we are planning special training sessions for ARC Caribbean 1500 and ARC Bahamas participants?  Did you know J World Annapolis planning to sail the ARC Bahamas this fall and you are invited to join us?  Well its true!  Four berths remain for this “bucket list” offshore passage that departs from historic Portsmouth, VA and ends at the sunny Bluff ouse Marina on Green Turtle Cay.

Sailing with J World Annapolis and the ARC Bahamas is best way to get to the Bahamas this winter!

What’s in a name?  The Bahamas Class has been renamed ARC Bahamas, to give the fleet their own identity within the Caribbean 1500 rally.

The group will still enjoy the same pre-departure activities and mass start with the Caribbean 1500 in Hampton; but they now have their own logo and flag, and an expanded social programme at Bluff House Marina.  We hope these changes will give the fleet more of an identity, and make crews feel a bit more special.

The name ARC Bahamas was chosen as a nice, catchy title that separates this part of the rally from the Nanny Cay destination.  The ARC name has become synonymous with sailboat rallies, and the three main tenets of safe, social, supported cruising are as true for the ARC Bahamas as they are for all of the rallies.

ARC Bahamas Destination
Bluff House Marina on Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos will welcome the ARC Bahamas fleet for the second year.   The facilities at Bluff House are second-to-none, and the team offer us a very warm Bahamian welcome.

Green Turtle Cay is a day sail from busier resorts, and provides a tranquil rest from the Atlantic passage.  While the island is very small, most social, shopping and boat services are available locally, and Marsh Harbour is only a sail away if you need more facilities.

Some boats use Green Turtle Cay as a winter base before returning for spring sailing in the Bahamas, others cruise further afield, and others go to work with one of the many charter fleets in the Abacos.

The Bahamas offers almost every type of cruising experience, from high-end marinas to anchoring in solitude in the shelter of a sand cay.  If you have a shallow draft boat, you could spend years exploring the hundreds of islands that make up this beguiling archipelago.
