LIABILITY WAIVERS
All students must complete a standard release of liability at the start of each course.
Course Tuition
- A $200 deposit is required to hold enrollment.
- Tuition is due no later than 30 days prior to the course start date.
- If a credit card was used for the deposit, the remaining balance will be charged automatically unless other arrangements are requested.
- Registrations made within 30 days of the course require payment in full at the time of registration.
- Enrollment is not confirmed until full tuition is received.
Cancellation & Rescheduling by Student
Because course operations require careful coordination of students, boats, and instructors, students must notify the school by phone and email if they need to cancel or reschedule. Written confirmation will be provided.
Refund / Credit Schedule (Courses & Private Instruction):
- 30+ days before course: 95% refund or 100% credit toward a future course*
- 14–29 days before course: 50% refund or 75% credit*
- 7–13 days before course: 25% refund or 50% credit*
- Less than 7 days: No refund or credit
Credits are issued as dollar amounts, not tied to a specific course.
Textbook costs are deducted once shipped.
Rescheduling is based on availability.
Cancellation & Rescheduling by School
The School reserves the right to cancel or delay courses due to weather, boat issues, or staffing. If the School cancels a class:
- A make‑up session will be arranged when available, or
- Sailing credits will be issued for future use.
Cancellations may occur on short notice, including the day of the course.
Weather Policy
J World Annapolis sails rain or shine. Only the School may cancel for weather‑related reasons, including:
- Lightning in the area
- Sustained winds over 18 knots
- Complete lack of wind
- Other unsafe or unsailable conditions
Weather decisions are made daily. Students must report prepared to sail. If part of a course is cancelled, students may return later to complete missed days.
Conduct & Safety
Illegal Acts / Drug & Alcohol Use
Illegal drugs, substances, or contraband are prohibited aboard all vessels. Anyone found in possession of or under the influence of illegal substances will be removed immediately, and all tuition will be forfeited.
Conduct Aboard Vessels
Students must follow all instructions from the coach in command. If a student behaves in a way that endangers the vessel, individuals, or property—or behaves in a disorderly or disruptive manner—the School may remove the student from the vessel. In such cases, no refunds will be issued, and the School is not responsible for travel or other expenses.
