DESCRIPTION:The Basic Keelboat course is the most comprehensive learn to sail course there is. \nWe start the keelboat course on board the boat\, introducing you to the basic parts of the boat and how to rig the sails. SUMMARY:IN-PERSON - Coastal Navigation Certification
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Navigation Certification\nThis is an ideal course for anyone who wants to develop a solid foundation in navigation principles.  The curriculum for this seminar will cover charts and features\, compass errors\, plotting\, triangulation\, dead reckoning\, route planning\, tides\, current vectors\, aids to navigation and an introduction to electronic navigation.   This course includes US Sailing certification upon passing the written exam. Class will begin on Saturday and Sunday\, both from 9am – 5pm at our facility in Eastport. You will receive a confirmation of your registration request\, with an invoice that must be paid prior to the start of the course. \nClasses run 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday at our facility\, 213 Eastern Avenue\, Annapolis\, MD.\n \nNOTE:  The Coastal Navigation textbook and Chart 1210Tr are included in the cost of the seminar.  When you have registered and paid for the course\, we will mail you your Coastal Navigation textbook which you will use to participate in the hands-on seminar. \n\n Various tools such as a nautical parallel ruler\, rolling plotter\, a set of dividers\, number 2 pencils and a soft eraser are required to participate in the seminar.  J World will not be supplying these tools so you will need to obtain your own navigation tools for use in the class.  Recommended tools are: \n\n\n\n1. A Nautical Parallel Rule (Weems and Plath #141 \, 15”: w/ brushed aluminum arms) and/or\n\n\n\n2. SUMMARY:Racing 5-Day - Leukemia Cup
DESCRIPTION:We will work on boathandling\, sail trim and spinnaker handling during the first part of the week and then move on to starting and boat against boat speed and tactical drills.  We finish the week with a round-the-buoys regatta against your classmates!  Upon completion of this course\, you will have the skills and confidence to compete successfully as skipper or crew in your local and regional PHRF and one-design events.  Prerequisites: You should have the ability to confidently sail a boat on your own with a complete understanding of fundamental sailing theory. \nThe course is suitable for graduates of our Learn to Sail 4 or 5 day courses\, our Performance Cruising course\, as well as anyone with US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification. \n\n\n	Related
