Meet Anna Buchanan!
Anna Buchanan joins J World Annapolis this summer as a Dock Hand (and general organizer of everything!). She attends The University of Maryland College Park, where she studies mathematics, and will be a Sophomore this year. Anna participated in junior sailing at Severn Sailing Association for 5 years, sailing optis, 420s, and Lasers, but stopped in High School to pursue Field Hockey. Not only did she play field hockey interscholastically, but she also played on competitive club teams outside of school, like MD United and Spark club field hockey teams. What do you love about sailing?
I love the cruising aspect of sailing the most- just being out on the water, relaxing.
What is your favorite sailing memory?
My favorite sailing memory is when I was at summer camp, in Opti’s, and my coach threw a dirty sausage at my face because I was zoning out. I thought it was pretty hilarious, and I still laugh when I think about it.
What are 3 words that describe you?
3 words that best describe me are personable, excitable, and optimistic.
What is your favorite food or drink?
My favorite food would have to be avocado, while my favorite drink is Jasmine green tea- or any cold tea, for that matter.
What is your favorite book or movie?
My favorite book is Lolita, by Vladimir Vladimirovich Nabokov, and my favorite movie is probably A Clockwork Orange. (although I have multiple favorite movies- it’s hard to pick just one!)
When you’re not a J World, what are you doing?
When i’m not working, I really enjoy doing outdoor things- running, kayaking, rock climbing, and the like. I also like hanging out with friends, playing video games, and going to concerts
