Basic Keelboat Two-Weekend

J World Annapolis’ US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification course is the place to start your sailing education.
To match today’s busy schedules, we offer our Basic Keelboat course in a two-weekend format in addition to the five-day, midweek course. In this course, you will learn to responsibly skipper and crew a simple daysailing keelboat in familiar waters in light to moderate wind and sea conditions. You’ll learn to sail onboard our high performing 26′ keelboats – J/80’s. It’s a fantastic learning platform in that the J/80 is easy to maneuver and stable, yet responsive and FUN! This course is offered every weekend of our sailing season (April-November), and your sessions can be scheduled for either consecutive weekends or at other intervals – making our two weekend course the most flexible way for you to learn to sail. For each weekend, you will be placed onboard with others at the same progression level.
By taking this course, we guarantee that you will acquire the skills and knowledge to pass the written and skill evaluation for US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification. If you do not pass during your course, you may come back for makeup instruction and testing until you do at no additional charge.

Everybody interested in developing a strong sailing foundation while acquiring US Sailing’s Basic Keelboat Certification.
How will I spend my Time?
This course is held from 9am to 4pm over the span of two weekends. The weekends do not have to be sequential but we recommend completing the two weekends as close together as possible. After a brief class session each morning, you’ll spend the bulk of the day ON the water.

What should I bring?
Comfortable weather appropriate clothing, athletic shoes, and plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Bring your own lunch or order ahead from a local deli just down the street from our campus.
