DESCRIPTION:J World Annapolis’ US Sailing Bareboat Cruising Certification course is a great way to the build skills to cruise for extended adventures and unlock worldwide chartering opportunities.\nGet ready for a cruising adventure in the Chesapeake Bay while earning your US Sailing Certification \nIn addition to the topics taught in our3-Day Basic Cruising course\, our Bareboat Cruising works deeper into the theory and practice of cruising large boats for an extended period of time.   In our bareboat cruising course\, you will cover the following topics: \n\nMeal planning & provisioning \nelectronic and coastal navigation\ncurrent set and drift calculations\nradio communication protocol\njury rigs\nadvanced anchoring techniques under sail and power\ngoing aloft\nadvanced cruise planning and advanced piloting.\n\nConducted during the week and spread over 5 days\, we typically have the Chesapeake to ourselves and often experience a wider range of weather conditions. This course begins on Wednesday @9:00 am and ends Sunday @4:00. You’ll live aboard the boat for the duration of the course.  Complete this course with the qualifications\, skill and confidence to safely sail a similar sized boat in moderate to strong wind and seas. This is the perfect course to prepare you to charter a cruising boat on your own. \nUS Sailing Bareboat Certification & IPC\nThe  US Sailing Basic Keelboat and US Sailing Basic Cruising certification  are prerequisites to earn a Bareboat Cruising Certification.  Once completed\, you qualify for  an International Proficiency Certificate (IPC) – an internationally recognized level of competence\, and required for chartering in the Mediterranean\, European Union and elsewhere.   Sailors without the prerequisites\, but with comparable sailing experience are still welcome to enroll in the course.   You should have the ability to confidently sail a boat on your own with a complete understanding of fundamental sailing theory.   \nThere needs to be a minimum of 2 students enrolled in this course to confirm the course dates. \nPrice:  $2395 \n\nEnroll in Bareboat Cruising

SUMMARY:Spinnaker & Raceboat Handling
DESCRIPTION:Our Spinnaker & Raceboat Handling course is a racing-oriented course that covers sail trim\, asymmetric spinnaker handling\, and crew organization for sailors with solid helm and sail trim skills.\nDuring our two-day spinnaker course\, we will work on mark roundings\, speed control\, steering techniques\, and crew communication.  This course is perfect for skippers as well as crew looking to improve their mechanics and race course form. \nWho should take this class?\nAnyone interested in learning how to race or race better should consider taking this course.   If you are interested in training your crew on your own boat\, contact us about private on-board instruction. \nPrerequisite?\nThere is no prerequisite\, but we do suggest that incoming students have a US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification or have sailing experience that is commensurate with the Basic Keelboat Standard. \nWhat will I learn?\nSpinnaker & Race Boat Handling teaches any sailor how to handle asymmetrical spinnakers to improve their enjoyment of downwind sailing.  We’ll also introduce ways to improve crew communication & teamwork that will help you get around the racecourse more efficiently. \nCertification?\nStudents will receive a J World Annapolis certificate of completion. \nHow will I spend my time?\nThis two-day class runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.   You will spend your day working on upwind and downwind speed\, and how to set\, trim\, gybe and dowse a spinnaker.   Throughout the weekend\, you will rotate positions with the other students to fully appreciate how to handle a boat downwind as a driver\, trimmer and pit.  You’ll also gain a valuable appreciation of just how important good teamwork is when flying a spinnaker. \nHow do I register?\nCall\, email us or click below to register now! \nNote:  Running this course requires at least 2 or more students to register for each 2 day course.  After you register\, you will be notified in advance if the dates you registered don’t have sufficient students registered to run the course on those dates so you can switch to a different weekend.\nWhat should I bring?\nComfortable weather appropriate clothing\, athletic shoes\, and plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.  Lunch can be ordered from us or bring your own!  If you need anything else\, give us a call and we can help. \nPrice:  $625 \nEnroll Now!
