Annapolis Labor Day Regatta

August 28, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

$1695

The Annapolis Labor Day Regatta is the premier sailing regatta in the Mid-Atlantic Region. It is a perpetual and annual event that occurs with consistency every year over Labor Day weekend off the shores and in the City of Annapolis.

With the J/80 North American and World Championships coming to Annapolis in 2014 – the 2014 Race Week is guaranteed to be a well attended event. The 5-day day racing event offers a significant and unique opportunity for J World racing students to hone their skills and then test them against the best on the Bay.  This event, hosted by Eastport Yacht Club, is beginning of the 2014 J/80 Championship season that will culminate in the J/80 World Championships held in Annapolis in October.  We expect some of the best teams to be in Annapolis “testing the waters” and building their Annapolis experience in order to be best prepared for 2014.  For local sailors, this is an incredible opportunity to learn from the best and test their own skills in a fully coach supported structured racing event.

This program is tailored for J World racing students who have been developing their skills during our weekly Thursday Night Racing series or have previous J World racing experience. We will spend three days focusing on boat speed, boat handling and team development before competing as a four person racing squad. Over the course of the the three days each participant will helm, trim and work the bow as well as contribute to the strategic and tactical decision making process.
