Performance Sailing 5-Day
Our intermediate level courses are designed for sailors familiar with the basics who are looking to expand their skills and confidence to move into either cruising or racing. We employ such innovative techniques as steering with weight and sails to help you learn the “feel” of sailing. You will rotate among all the positions onboard throughout your course. During this course, we spend two days on one of our cruising boats for boathandling, seamanship drills, navigation, docking and anchoring.
Who should take this course?
This course is designed for people who have some sailing experience, and are comfortable on sailboats.
What will I learn?
Wind awareness, points of sail, tacking, gybing, sail controls, heaving to. We will also spend two days on a larger auxiliary powered sailboat, with the focus being on transferring are sailing skills to larger boats.
The course comes with a certificate of completion from J World Annapolis and for those interested students with appropriate ability level there is the ability to challenge for the US Sailing Basic Keelboat certification.
How will I spend my time?
This five day class runs from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. 4 hours classroom time and 30 hours of on the water training.
